Huizhong Chen is a Research Engineer Director at Google DeepMind in Mountain View, California. He received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University, under the supervision of Prof. Bernd Girod. Previously, he earned his B.A. and M.Eng. degrees with First-Class Honor from the Department of Engineering at the University of Cambridge in 2008 and 2009, respectively.
His primary research interest lies in multimodal Large Language Models (LLMs), with his core work focusing on advancing the multimodal capabilities of Gemini.
Huizhong is a Fellow of the Brown Institute for Media Innovation and a Kodak Fellow.
